U.S. Beef Corp. of Tulsa signed a contract in June to build a Taco Bueno and an Arby’s restaurant at the corner of U.S. Highway 412 and West Side Street in Springdale.

Kayla Murphree, real estate coordinator with U.S. Beef, said the land hasn’t been purchased yet and no plans have been drawn.

The size of the restaurants depends on the size of the lot. The Arby’s restaurant can range from 2,400 SF to 4,000 SF.

Murphree said she didn’t know specifics on the Taco Bueno restaurant because U.S. Beef is fairly new to the chain. Taco Bueno opened its first Northwest Arkansas location in Fayetteville last year.

The Fayetteville Taco Bueno had $829,639 in food sales for the first half of the 2006 fiscal year.

That was just $146,019 less than the highest grossing Taco Bell in Fayetteville.

U.S. Beef will likely close on the deal in January, Murphree said, and construction should be completed by summer 2007.

The company has the franchise rights in Northwest Arkansas.
