Gray Matters Stops Publishing Family

Gray Matters LLC of Springdale ceased publishing Family magazine after the Aug. 1 issue hit the streets.

The monthly magazine was launched in October 2003 by Arkansas Business Publishing Group. At that time, it was called Northwest Arkansas Family. Gray Matters purchased Family along with the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, its Web site and three annual niche publications in June 2004 for an undisclosed sum.

“Out of all of our titles, our Family magazine was consumer oriented, whereas our specialties lie in business-to-business niche publications,” said Darin Gray, owner and CEO of Gray Matters. “With our new responsibilities of managing the Tulsa Business Journal, it was time for us to focus our resources back to B-to-B niche publications.”

Family was distributed throughout Northwest Arkansas free of charge. Gray said Family had a “large readership,” but he wouldn’t say whether the publication was profitable.
