Charles Salser, who has been chief meteorologist at KHBS/KHOG, Channels 40/29, since 2000, will leave the ABC affiliate June 1 to be life groups pastor at Life Church in Oklahoma City. Salser worked for KHBS/KHOG for the past eight years.

“This is something I’ve been wanting to do for the better part of 10 years,” he said.

Salser said he has been working on his bachelor’s degree through a distance learning program at International Theological Seminary in Braedenton, Fla.

Salser said the non-denominational Life Church has 425 small groups (consisting of six to eight couples each) that meet throughout the week at homes and other locations.

“My job will be the point of contact for those life group leaders,” he said.

Life Church has seven locations in three states (Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona) in addition to an “Internet campus.”

KHBS/KHOG morning meteorologist Drew Michaels will replace Salser. The station is looking for someone to take Michaels’ morning weather slot.
