If you’ve noticed the papered-over windows in the 1,200-SF building at 226 N. School St. in Fayetteville and wondered what’s going on, we can tell you.

Klane Hanson of Fayetteville has leased the building so he can open a retail store there called Arkansas Home Outfitters by mid-July. Hanson, originally from West Memphis, plans to sell furniture, wall décor and accessories with a northwest theme (northwest U.S., that is) as well as Arkansas items, including paintings by a local artist.

If all goes well, Hanson, operating as KHK LLC, plans to open his second store next year (probably in Jonesboro) and a third store sometime later in the Rogers/Bentonville area.

Timothy Klinger, a Fayetteville lawyer who owns the building, said he spent about $200,000 to renovate it. The brick walls dated to about 1910. The last business to occupy the site was Ozark Mountain Sports.

The store will be a half block south of Dickson Street, adjacent to the Dickson Street Bookshop.
