Walton Arts Center Looking for Bigger Venue
We hear the Walton Arts Center has solicited bids for a feasibility study for a larger performing arts venue in Northwest Arkansas.
Terry Trotter, vice president of external affairs for the WAC, said the center solicited proposals from about six to 10 firms. The proposals are due in May.
Trotter said if a larger facility were to be built, it would be at least eight to 12 years away.
The center is looking at a larger facility because it could bring in more ticket revenue from the same shows it brings in now. Most facilities that pay larger artist or production fees for Broadway-type performances seat 2,000 to 3,000. The WAC seats 1,200.
