We hear two new flight academies will be opening in Fayetteville and Bentonville in early April. Drake Aviation LLC closed its operations in Bentonville and Springdale in March.
Sky Ventures Aviation, which operates in Jonesboro and Jackson, Miss., will have a training facility at Drake Field in Fayetteville.
In April, Summit Aviation will be the new fixed base operator at the Bentonville Municipal Airport/Louise M. Thaden Field after Drake Aviation’s exit. Summit Aviation will also operate a flight-training program.
The closing of Drake Aviation at Bentonville and the Springdale Municipal Airport has grounded the Northwest Arkansas Community College’s aviation program. And there’s no word if the program will continue with the new aviation companies.
