Hay Web Site Gains Attention

The University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service launched the Arkansas Hay Producers Database about two years ago. The database, online at http://hayproducers.uaex.edu, was developed to help hay buyers and sellers find one another.
Tom Troxel, a beef cattle specialist with the extension in Little Rock, said hay and cattle producers have really responded to the site in 2005 because of the drought and the subsequent demand for hay.
The extension service doesn’t set prices for hay and doesn’t get involved in the negotiation of prices, Troxel said.
So far, he has not witnessed any price gouging on hay, he said.
