We know what some of you were doing on Feb. 1.

Instead of working, you were following signing day stats online at Hogwired.com. The University of Arkansas’ Razorback site began posting names and bios of the 2006 signing class — probably the most hyped class in Razorback history — as each player’s paperwork was received.

The site received 41,839 visits that day as people logged on to make sure that Mitch Mustain and Damian Williams fulfilled their promises. That amounted to about 130,000 total Web pages viewed that day.

A total of 289 people watched the Web cast that was available to Razor Zone subscribers only.

Just a week after signing day, 447 people had logged on to the site to retroactively watch the signing day press conference, and 451 people had watched the coach’s interviews.

We’re pretty sure the sponsors of the site, which include ANB Financial N.A. and Coca-Cola, were happy with the site’s virtual turnout.

Speaking of the Razorbacks, UA Athletic Director Frank Broyles had hip replacement surgery on Feb. 3 and came home to Fayetteville to recuperate three days later.

Kevin Trainor, the UA’s sports information director, said the surgery was performed at Arkansas Surgical Hospital in North Little Rock.

Trainor said Broyles, 81, was walking already on Feb. 6 after the surgery to replace his right hip.

“They told him he’d be walking without a limp in seven to 10 days,” Trainor said.
