Brad Hammond has been building since he was a kid growing up in Fayetteville. With a grandfather and father in the bricklaying business, Hammond made an easy transition from Legos and Tinker Toys into brick and mortar.

Hammonds dad encouraged him to pursue a career that would allow him to use his mind more than his hands. Hammond earned a civil engineering degree from the University of Arkansas in 1992. Two years later, he left the university with an MBA as well.

Hammond started working in 1990 as an intern for McGoodwin Williams & Yates, an engineering consulting firm co-founded by his uncle, Carl Yates.

His job consisted mostly of holding survey rods and cutting brush.

In 1993, he spent a summer working for Phillips Petroleum in El Dorado as part of a graduate internship but has been at McGoodwin ever since. Hammond accepted the role of company president in 2004.

The current state president for the Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers, Hammond would like to grow his company into a regional consulting firm that continues to focus on municipal work.

He enjoys giving back to organizations that helped foster his success and serves as an adviser to his college fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta.
