The Bank of America office on the downtown Fayetteville square at 1 E. Center St. will close in early February. BOA spokesman George Owen said bank customers were notified in a letter that was mailed in early November.

The office will be “consolidated” into the BOA office on Dickson Street near the University of Arkansas campus, Owen said.

The move will bring the total number of bank offices on the square down to two — Arvest Bank-Fayetteville and The Bank of Fayetteville N.A., which are both main offices.

The BOA office posted deposits of $124.7 million as of June 30, significantly higher than any of the other seven BOA offices in Washington County.

The next highest office was the West 6th Street location in Fayetteville, with $29.1 million in deposits.

The downtown office of Arvest had deposits of $301.4 million, and The Bank of Fayetteville had deposits of $83.4 million as of June 30. Both offices serve as Fayetteville headquarters for the banks.
