Car Dealership Commercial Aims, Misses Target (Outtakes Opinion)
Fort Smith’s Jim Ray Nissan is airing a commercial that digs deep into the heart of every consumer.
The dealership’s latest effort at selling cars is a commercial that shows an elderly lady holding up a convenience store. With a red bandana over her face, she’s pointing a gun, “gangsta” style, at the clerk telling him to “fill ‘er up!”
While the spot is comedic, portraying a “grandmother” being desperate enough to hold up a convenience store for her gas-guzzler, we think it crosses the line considering convenience store robberies are frequently violent crimes.
Although there weren’t any shots fired, the thought of violence coming from the elderly lady is enough to make any child worry next time grandma wears a red scarf.
