Area Counties Top Bank Deposit List

Benton, Washington and Sebastian counties are near the top of the list of counties in the state with the highest dollar value of bank deposits, as of June 30.

According to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s deposit market share data, the three counties ranked No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 respectively and bring in a total of $8 billion of the state’s $41.35 billion in bank deposits, or about 19 percent.

The six-county region commonly referred to as Northwest Arkansas has about $9.18 billion in deposits, so Benton, Washington and Sebastian counties make up 22 percent of the state’s total.

The trio trails Pulaski County, which had $6.9 billion in deposits, or about 16.6 percent of the state’s total.

Benton County had the best growth of the top 16 counties in the state, with a 21.7 percent increase in deposits since June 30, 2004.
