Boone County Regional Airport in Harrison might be getting a $7.5 million airport by early 2007.

Jess Coker, vice president of marketing for Bransonfuntrip, said Rubloff Development Co. in Rockford, Ill., has made a financial commitment to put in an airport to serve the Branson area. The development group owns Bransonfuntrip and Rubloff Jet Express LLC.

Coker said the company is looking to make financial contributions to put an airport either in Branson or in Harrison, which is only 35 south of Branson. Estimates have been made, and drawings have been submitted for the proposal.

Coker said they are waiting on which city would be feasible, but it looks like Harrison may end up being the one to get the makeover because “things aren’t working out in Branson.”

Ryan International Airlines, based in Wichita, Kan., has also committed to providing service to the airport, wherever it may be located.
