Two area radio stations owned by Clear Channel Communications Inc. swapped disc jockeys on Oct. 6.

Jon Williams and Jennifer Colonna, who had the morning “Jon and Jen Show” on “Hot Mix” 101.9 KMXF-FM, have been replaced by Jay Steele and Brock Short.

Steele was hired from 98 PXY-FM in Rochester, N.Y., to do the morning show on “Hot Mix.” The format at that Infinity Broadcasting Corp. station was similar to 101.9’s, Steele said.

Short had been part-time on-air talent and done work in the promotions department for Clear Channel, said Tony Beringer, regional vice president. The two will try to lure the 18- to 24-year-old female demographic.

Colonna will still do some weekend work for 101.9 but will be full-time on Fort Smith’s 98 KZBB-FM “The B,” Beringer said.

Williams took back the morning slot at 93.3 KIGL-FM “The Eagle,” replacing the “Phil and Brent Show” that was syndicated from 97.5 KMOD-FM out of Tulsa and included character Roy D. Mercer.

Williams was part of a two-man team that had the morning show on “The Eagle” from 1998 through part of 2002. He will revise many segments from that time, he said, including birthday scams, fictional character Shirley Q. Liquor, the Friday morning joke-off and a new segment called celebrity scams that uses voice clips from movies for prank calls. The show, which targets 25- to 54-year-old males, will also include more sports, Williams said.

“I feel like I’m home,” he said. “It’s been incredible.”

In the 12-year-old-and-older category, “Hot Mix” was ranked No. 2 in the fall Arbitron ratings and “The Eagle” was No. 5.
