Skyline Info Will be Released

The second quarter of the Arvest Bank Group Inc.-commissioned Skyline Report will be released in two waves. On Aug. 22 up-to-date commercial and multifamily info will be available, and on Aug. 29 a residential summary report will be released.

The Business Journal did catch wind of one tidbit ahead of time: Absorption rates for office space were apparently better during the second quarter of 2005 than in the first quarter. In fact, they were better than in the previous year.

Bentonville had negative absorption of 78,893-SF of office space during the first quarter, meaning that much SF was not leased. But 27,000 SF were absorbed, or leased, during the second quarter.

Fayetteville and Rogers each had positive absorption for the first quarter (13,598 SF and 11,512 SF, respectively), but absorption for the second quarter was an astonishing 88,000 SF in Fayetteville and about 77,500 SF in Rogers.

So despite the slightly sobering effect of the Skyline’s first release, the future in Northwest Arkansas, if not blazing, still looks bright.
