DJs Seek Work After Oldies Sale

On-air talents Ken Couch and Matt Slaughter have yet to find work in radio since the July 18 sale of KSEC 95.7 FM in Bentonville to Vega Enterprises Inc. The format of the station changed that day from “oldies” to “Mexican regional.”

Couch, who was the station’s program director, said he is looking, but has yet to find work in radio. He will take a job outside the industry though, he said, until something opens up.

“I’ll not work in radio again,” Slaughter said.

He was disappointed about the sale of the station because it was just starting to “get in the black,” he said.

Slaughter, Couch and Donn Emis, were the voices of the station for about three years after it changed formats from jazz.

Emis took a job in March as program director for oldies station and Cumulus Broadcasting Inc. affiliate KBBQ 100.7 FM in Fort Smith.

He worked for Cumulus for four years before he joined KSEC.
