D-G Forgets About Stephens Media Group (Outtakes Opinion)

In a lengthy Page 1 obituary/profile of Jackson T. “Jack” Stephens published on July 24, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette didn’t mention Stephens Media Group.
The division of The Stephens Group owns 40 newspapers, including 15 in Arkansas. Several of those papers — like The Morning News of Springdale and the Pine Bluff Commercial — compete head to head with the D-G.
It certainly appeared to be a blatant omission. We expect the statewide daily to give us a nonbiased history of Jack Stephens, even if he did own some newspapers the D-G folks would prefer to ignore.
