Leigh Enterprises LLC plans to build a 22,809-SF Bassett Furniture Direct store on two acres it recently purchased in Fayetteville’s CMN Business Park. The store will be located on the northwest corner of Steel and Shiloh streets.

Leigh Richards of Fayetteville, the principle in Leigh Enterprises, said construction should be completed by February. She said the entire project will cost about $3 million.

Richards said Leigh Enterprises is the property owner, and the business will operate under another LLC she established called BFD of NWA.

Hank Browne of Sherwood opened a 40,700-SF Hank’s Fine Furniture store in the CMN Business Park on March 12, but Richards said she’s not concerned about the competition.

“For furniture stores, it’s better for us to be close to one another,” she said. “Most people will shop more than one furniture store when they’re looking to buy.”

Richards said Hank’s furniture sells for lower prices than Bassett, which she said is in the middle to upper-middle price range.

Bassett Furniture Industries Inc. of Bassett, Va., has 125 stores nationwide. Richards said she will own the Fayetteville store and operate it as a “Bassett dealership.” This will be Richards’ first Bassett store.

The only other Bassett Furniture Direct store in Arkansas is in Little Rock.
