Athletic World Advertising Plans Apparel Business
Sports schedule poster publisher Athletic World Advertising plans to leverage its 4,600 high school accounts in November with the launch of a new apparel business.
Gregg Ogden, the Fayetteville company’s president and CEO, said Athletic World Apparel will offer collegiate and high school programs jerseys, pants, warm-ups, t-shirts and many more products. The venture is the result of manufacturing partnerships in China, Bangladesh and Honduras. University of Arkansas Athletic Director J. Frank Broyles is also a partner on the deal.
Ogden said the new division would offer the same quality and on-time delivery but be able to save programs $30,000 to $40,000 annually in costs.
Most high school athletic directors run budgets of $100,000 per year, Ogden said.
AWA’s core calendar business had 2004 sales of about $18.9 million. That was up about 15 percent from $16.5 million in 2003.
