ABC’s show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” which did a home remodel for Alma resident Colleen Nick and her family, was to air on July 10, but the network pulled from that date and has not rescheduled.

A spokeswoman with the Morgan Nick Foundation, a nonprofit organization that seeks to recover missing and abducted children, said they hope to hear the week of July 18 when the network will air the show.

The Outdoor Life Network’s series “All-Star BBQ Showdown” will begin airing on July 23 at 10:30 a.m., the first two half-hour episodes running back-to-back. They will be rebroadcast on that evening at 7 p.m. and again at 10 p.m.

According to the Benton County Daily Record, one of the series’ shows was shot in Bentonville and it will air on July 30 at 9 p.m.

The show pits barbecue chefs and local amateurs against one another in an attempt to crown the best chef in the country.

Post Touts Yuppiedom as Pinnacle Market Closes

The Washington Post published a story on June 27 touting Bentonville and its surrounding communities as a “swanky oasis in the middle of the Ozarks.”

The story describes the high living that Wal-Mart execs have brought to the area, including a Hummer dealership, pricey art galleries and uppity eateries.

The article described “the migration of high-paid executives to the northwest corner of Arkansas — professionals from amenity-rich cities like New York, San Francisco, Atlanta and Miami, who bring not only their six-figure salaries, but an appetite for Jaguars, sushi, pet day-care centers, Gucci shoes and Chanel sunglasses.”

One thing that caught our eye was the description of the Market at Pinnacle Point: “In Rogers, just north of Bentonville, nattily dressed executives from Kellogg Co. and Colgate-Palmolive Co. sip lattes and lunch on cold Thai salmon at the Market, a gourmet grocery store that offers sushi-making lessons,” the paper said.

The irony is that the grocery store filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy three days prior to the story’s release and actually closed down the day the issue with the story came out.
