Minotaur Tech Lands Granted
Yet another Virtual Incubation Corp. client will be awarded a grant soon.
Word is that Minotaur Technologies LLC is waiting for a check worth $150,000 for a Phase I Small Business Technology Transfer grant for its work on an instrument used in cell biology research.
The technology, licensed from the University of Texas at Austin, uses lasers to manipulate, and eventually deliver, proteins or drugs directly to a specific spot within a cell, at a specific time. Calvin Goforth, president of VIC, said this marks a tremendous advance in biomedical research because researchers can then study the effects of the bio-chemicals on cells.
VIC provides clients with management, operational, research and fundraising support. It takes an equity stake in the firms and derives some fees from the awards it helps land.
For those keeping count, this will be the 27th award VIC has landed for clients since January of 2003.
