Racer Armstrong Could Race in Northwest Arkansas
Lance Armstrong just might be coming to Northwest Arkansas next month. According to an April story by the Associated Press, the 33-year-old bicycling champion announced that he would retire from cycling after this July’s Tour de France.
When asked if he would do any more racing between now and then, Armstrong answered that he’d love to “jump in” if there is a good local race in May that he can use as a practice run for the Tour.
Good news, Lance. The Joe Martin Stage Race is one of only three races held during the month of May, and the biggest, according to race promoter Bruce Dunn of All Sports Productions, Inc., in Fayetteville.
The race will be held May 13-15 at various locations around Fayetteville.
