Molly Giles gave Penguin Ed’s Bar-B-Que a nice plug in the Spring 2005 issue of The Oxford American.

Giles wrote about moving from California to Fayetteville and being in a culinary state of shock until she discovered Penguin Ed’s ribs and hot sauce.

“Ed’s secret ingredient I am sure is some time-capsule form of heroin,” she wrote, “because I am forced to return week after week, whether I want to or not.”

Giles also poked fun at James at the Mill in Johnson for serving “Andouille corn dogs with mustard as appetizers.” But, that’s part of the charm of chef Miles James’ menu. It’s what he calls “Ozark Plateau Cuisine.”
