The Morning News was the first area newspaper to report that Dr. Fay Boozman had been killed March 19 in Rogers when part of a barn “gave way and crushed him.” The Page 1 story in The Morning News quoted Coroner Kimberly Scott saying “the cause of death was trauma to the chest.” Boozman was director of the Arkansas Department of Health.

On March 20, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported only that the accident had occurred at Boozman’s farm. The D-G had more details the next day, reporting that Boozman had been trying to remove the steel wall of a horse stall when it buckled and fell on him.

The Benton County Daily Record reported on March 20 that Boozman’s barn was the scene of the accident but had no details.
