Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville plans to hold its first ever media conference on April 5 and 6. It’s all part of the kinder, gentler Wal-Mart the company execs have been trying to put out there. The invite says it’s “part of our continuing efforts to ensure you have accurate information on Wal-Mart.”
More than 100 journalists from across the country have been invited to attend the conference at the Rogers Embassy Suites. The media won’t be allowed to interview any of the big shots, but the execs — including CEO Lee Scott — will parade before them one after another to tell the reporters what Wal-Mart is all about.
The company will also give tours of stores, the home office, a distribution center and an RFID lab.
