Anita M. Davis dabbled in real estate about 20 years ago, but it was last year when she dusted off her license and got serious about it.
“I woke up and thought ‘this is it, this is what I want to do,'” Davis said. “It just hit me, and I love it.”
Davis started Epi Center Direct Real Estate in November in a corner office of her father’s law office building in Springdale. That’s fine for now, because she’s “a one-woman show,” but Davis said she plans to add three to five real estate agents in the coming year, which will force her to look for a new office.
She’s careful about those plans. It all depends on finding the right kind of person — someone she can relate to, who has the same type of commitment to personal service, and someone with a strong work ethic centered on a love for the business.
Epi Center’s niche in the business is the small agency appeal with excellent customer service and agents who work hard for their clients, but have a great time doing it, she said.
Davis chose the name for the agency because Northwest Arkansas’ growth makes it feel like “the center of the universe” and she wants to be a part of it, she said.
Davis invested about $5,000 to start the agency. She expects to make a profit by February. She also anticipates the agency will reach $3 million in sales by then.
