Forty Under 40: Stephen Butler
During law school at the University of Arkansas, a tax attorney showed Stephen Butler he could merge both his interests in accounting and law into a single career.
With his certified public accountant license in hand, Butler received his law degree in 1990 and went to work in private practice in Rogers.
Butler, 39, is a partner at Keith Miller Butler and Webb PLLC, where he practices estate and gift planning. He also handles probate, estate administration and tax law for the firm.
In his free time, Butler tries to give back to the community. When a nonprofit group asks him to speak, “the answer is always yes,” the North Little Rock native said. He has taught a seminar on year-end tax planning for St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation and for other nonprofits.
He is board president for the Razorback Club of Rogers and a past president of the foundation for the Adult Development Center of Rogers, which provides job training for disabled adults.
Butler said the key to success is balancing work and home life.
“It may have taken me the better part of 15 years to figure that out, but I think I’m getting close,” he said.
Butler is already looking to the firm’s future, so he aims to be a good mentor, he said.
