Forty Under 40: Randy Koontz
It used to be that Randy Koontz thought it was his job to make people money. More and more, he said, it’s also about helping clients keep their wealth and preserve their financial legacy.
Koontz was a linebacker on the University of Central Arkansas’ NAIA National Championship teams of 1984 and 1985. He later transferred to the University of Arkansas and graduated in 1988 with a degree in financial management.
Koontz became a financial advisor at GNA Securities in 1990 before joining A.G. Edwards as a vice-president. He was a multi-time President’s Council award winner for production at Edwards. By his second month with Edwards, he was one of the region’s top producers.
Koontz joined Morgan Stanley’s Rogers office in 2002 and helped it assemble a wealth management team. He said his firm’s portfolio management tools expose clients to private equities and hedge funds that are relatively unique to the market.
Koontz estimates he has grown his assets under management about 15 percent at Morgan Stanley.
He volunteers for NARTI, serves on the board of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame and spent two terms on the Benton County Quorum Court.
