Forty Under 40: Jason B. Foster
Faith in God, humility and having people who depend on him for their livelihood are what motivate Jason Foster, 34, to be successful in his pediatric practice.
Raised partly on the Ivory Coast, West Africa, by missionary parents, Foster was taught that if he’s going to do something, he’d better do it well.
That teaching has worked. He earned a biology degree with a chemistry minor from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, and a medical degree from Texas Tech University. He did his residency at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Foster had a friend who did his residency at Springdale Children’s Clinic, and it sounded like a change of pace from the big city Foster was used to. When he started looking for a hospital to settle down in, Foster chose Springdale.
In 2002, Northwest Medical Center of Benton County needed pediatricians. Foster, partnering with Dr. Kimberly L. Cadle, opened Bentonville Pediatrics, which is a separate entity from the hospital.
The clinic now runs the hospital’s nursery and does the bulk of its pediatric admissions.
Foster loves to travel and enjoys any physical activity that takes him outdoors. He tries not to let his work dominate his life, and says that’s good advice for anyone in the professional world.
