Evapo-Rust Hits AutoZone
AutoZone has ordered $350,000 worth of Evapo-Rust from Harris International Laboratories of Springdale. The auto parts chain plans to stock 60,000 units of the rust remover in 3,000 stores nationwide, said Evapo-Rust inventor David Harris.
“For a little company like us, we’re looking forward to it,” he said.
Harris said Evapo-Rust will also be featured on QVC, the television shopping channel, in April.
Evapo-Rust was named one of the year’s 100 best inventions in the world by Research & Development Magazine in 2001. Harris International was founded eight years ago.
Harris said Evapo-Rust was invented almost by accident. But it took another three years to perfect the formula.
“It’ll eat only the rust,” he said. “It won’t affect any of the soft metals.”
And the best thing is it won’t damage human skin like other rust removers.
“It’s less toxic to humans than hair shampoo,” Harris said.
