Although the building in Fayetteville’s CMN Business Park is brand spanking new, the minute we entered Logan’s Roadhouse, we thought we had slipped into a down home Delta dive.

Gas station signs and old football team pictures decorate the walls. A bucket of peanuts is on every table. Diners are encouraged to discard the shells onto the floor.

After ordering, it took only 10 minutes to get our food.

One diner in our group had the deluxe grilled chicken sandwich ($6.29). The “express lunch” menu was a bit sketchy about “fixin’s.” He would have left the grilled onions off had he known the sandwich came with those. But the fair was still good after he scraped away the onions. It included two strips of bacon, pickles, raw red onion, lettuce, tomato and barbecue sauce. The sandwich came with tasty, if not a tad soggy, homemade potato chips.

The female diner was curious about the San Antonio chicken wraps ($6.59), but she decided to sub a sweet potato for the chips (an extra $0.79 charge). She was pleased with the dish that arrived with a steaming container of tortillas and chicken oozing in its own chili/cheese concoction. It was served with all the “fixin’s” for fajitas.

One diner at our table ordered the old-fashioned cheeseburger ($5.39), cooked medium well. When it arrived, though, the inside looked rare, so he sent it back. About five minutes later, a second burger arrived, cooked pretty much like he wanted (with no apologies from the server).

He said the burger was good for the money — compared to some in the neighborhood that cost twice as much. Next time, he said he’ll opt for a steak at Logan’s Roadhouse.

For dessert, the three of us split a “big and chewy hot fudge brownie” ($5). The brownie, topped with vanilla ice cream and floating in hot fudge, was ridiculously good.

The “express lunch” menu includes 17 entrees that are prepared to order within 15 minutes. That’s pretty quick for business lunchers who have to get back to the office.
