Kevork Ouyoumjian and Sara Lusher plan to expand Emelia’s Mediterranean Kitchen & Bar at 309 W. Dickson St. in Fayetteville into 1,300 SF of space next door to the east. That space previously housed Smoothie King. The move will double the size of the restaurant the couple opened on June 24 and increase seating to 102.

With the expansion, they’ll use the east building as a Mediterranean tapas room, serving at least 10 appetizers and adding to the wine list. They will also have a private dining room that seats about 20. The couple plans to have the new part of the restaurant open by New Year’s Eve.

Steve Davis, who owns both buildings and operates the Smoothie King franchise, closed the Smoothie King on Nov. 21 and plans to reopen it in another location after the first of the year. Davis said he’s still looking for a new location.

Emelia’s serves Armenian, Middle Eastern and Greek food. The menu includes items like gyros, kabobs, hummus and rotisserie chicken. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.
