The Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has been cracking down on several Fayetteville restaurants and bars lately for a variety of violations.

ABC suspended alcohol sales at the Dickson Street Theater from Nov. 20 to Dec. 3 and fined the owners $1,000 for 12 violations stemming from “a large brawl” during the Bikes, Blues & BBQ festival, said Mike Jones, senior enforcement agent with ABC. Ten fights occurred that night, according to ABC. One of them involved a patron attacking a police officer.

Jones said about 35 people were involved in the melee at the theater that involved chairs being thrown. Word is most of the rowdys were locals, not out-of-town bikers who attended the festival from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.

The theater is leased for church services two nights a week — to the University of Arkansas’ Campus Crusade for Christ on Tuesdays and The Grove Church on Sundays.

Besides the theater, Casa Torres is appealing a 30-day alcohol suspension and a $2,000 fine stemming from 10 violations including fights and serving alcohol after 2 a.m.

Grub’s Bar & Grill plans to appeal a 10-day alcohol suspension stemming from six violations, and the White Tie Club (better known as J.R.’s Ballroom) plans to appeal a one-week suspension for five violations. In both of those cases, the bars were allegedly selling to minors and had intoxicated patrons.
