Vendors Enjoy Ice at Jones Center
About 10,000 skaters are scratching up the ice at the Jones Center for Families each month. And half or more of ice lovers are from Benton County.
Kelly Kemp, chief advancement officer for the Jones Center, said the influx of Wal-Mart vendors in Benton County is driving that enthusiasm from skaters from north of the Springdale community center.
“They’re excited to learn we have a facility like this and then they find it’s free,” Kemp said explaining that many of the vendor families come from areas of the country where indoor ice-skating is a regular pastime.
A lot of the Benton County skaters get involved in the hockey leagues, but plenty come just to enjoy a skate, she added.
The Jones Center tracks the users of its skate rink and swimming pool, because both require tickets, although they are free.
