Fayetteville Sees Hangar Heaven

Apparently, hangar space is a hot commodity at the Fayetteville Municipal Airport/Drake Field because the city is building a new one. James Nicholson, the airport’s financial coordinator, said the $650,000 facility has a waiting list of about 17 people who want hangar space. The new 13,283-SF addition will take care of about half of that crew.

The eight-bay “T-hangar” will be completed in the first quarter of 2005. Nicholson said each 1,400-SF space will hold up to a twin-engine-sized plane and will rent for $160 monthly.

In 1999, two eight-bay “T-hangars” were built, which was the last time Drake Field saw new hangar construction.

Architectural Contractors Inc. is the general contractor on the project.
