Parking spaces at the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center were at a premium on September 28. A record number of women packed in to attend the sixth annual Northwest Arkansas Business Women’s Conference.

Sue Huffman, human resource director for CEI Engineering Associates Inc. of Rogers, attended the conference for the first time this year.

“It depends on your position in the company. Some of us made some contacts and for others it was more about individual learning,” Huffman said.

Event coordinator Krista Khone of the Bentonville/Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce, said sponsors sold 575 tickets for the full-day event and had more than 700 in attendance to hear keynote speaker Erin Brokovich. Last year’s event drew 350 for the full day.

In addition, the conference offered a silent and live auction that raised more than $7,000 for the Benton County and Carroll County women’s shelters.
