SmitCo Opens Second Popeyes

SmitCo Eateries Inc. of Pine Bluff opened its second Northwest Arkansas Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits restaurant on Aug. 9 at 2325 W. Walnut St. in Rogers.

The company plans to open its next Popeyes in Siloam Springs in March, followed by one in Fort Smith next summer.

SmitCo opened its first Northwest Arkansas Popeyes in July 2003 at 538 E. Robinson Ave. in Springdale.

Rodney Coats of Pine Bluff and Brian D. Smith of Springdale are partners in SmitCo, which also owns two Subway sandwich shops in Pine Bluff and one in Brinkley.

Smith said SmitCo plans to open a total of nine Popeyes eateries in their four-county franchising territory, which includes Benton, Washington, Sebastian and Crawford counties.
