USI-Arkansas Inc. of Springdale recently announced plans to build a new 10,000-SF office complex east of Interstate 540 and 48th Street in Springdale. Valued at $1.4 million, the engineering firm will occupy 6,250-SF and lease the remainder of the building to tenants. Dixie Construction LLC of Springdale will build the project estimated to be complete by Jan. 1, 2005. Don Mobley Architects of Springdale designed the building.

“We began operations in Springdale less than four years ago with a handful of people,” said USI president Charles R. Nickle in a released statement. The firm has about 27 employees in Arkansas, of which 20 are located out of the Springdale office, Nickle said.

“The way we’ve been accepted by the Arkansas business community has been very gratifying,” Nickle said.

USI-Arkansas has offices in Springdale, Fort Smith and Little Rock and is the Arkansas-affiliate of Birmingham, Ala.,-based USInfrastructure, an employee-owned consulting engineering firm with more than 300 employees in 20 national and international offices.
