Gerald Bowman had been in the development and construction business for many years. Bowman said he hadn’t considered going into the concrete curbing business until he became aware of the potential market and lack of good workmanship locally.

He recently opened Bowman Concrete Curbing Co. and now offers concrete curbing, storm drain and sidewalk construction.

One thing that makes Bowman Concrete Curbing a little different from its competitors is the state-of-the-art equipment the company uses for its concrete and curbing jobs.

“Other companies have curbing equipment, but not this type of equipment,” Bowman said. “It enables us to do a faster and better job.”

Bowman has seven employees plus himself running the business, but he’d like to add more equipment and six or so additional employees.

Although it’s now located in Fayetteville, Bowman Concrete Curbing will eventually move to Springdale. Bowman said he’s looking for an appropriate location now. He needs 4,000 to 5,000 SF and an extra tall overhead door for equipment storage.

Bowman declined to say what the startup costs were.
