He had been asking $1.3 million for the three-story, 12,750-SF building.

Richard Shewmaker told us on July 15 that he’s under contract to sell the historic building at 603 W. Dickson St. in Fayetteville that houses The Blue Parrot bar.

He had been asking $1.3 million for the three-story, 12,750-SF building.

Shewmaker said the deal won’t go through until late July, and until then, he’s not saying who the buyer is.

Word on the street, however, is that the buyer is Tom Garrison, former president and CEO of American Freightways of Harrison, which is now a division of FedEx Freight of Memphis. Tom Garrison is the son of the late Sheridan Garrison, the founder of American Freightways who died this past spring in a boating accident near his home.

We were unable to reach Tom Garrison for a comment.

Shewmaker, who lives above The Blue Parrot, said he and his wife will be looking for a new place to live.

“We’re not going to leave God’s country,” Shewmaker said of Fayetteville.
