Ozark Brewing Co. Closes in Fayetteville

Ozark Brewing Co. closed on May 9 after occupying one of the most prominent locations on Fayetteville’s Dickson Street for 21 days shy of a decade.

John Gilliam, owner of the “brew pub,” said he is thinking about returning to college to pursue a master’s degree.

His mother and business partner, Maggie Gilliam, a retail analyst in New York City, owns the two-story, 11,000-SF building on the northeast corner of Dickson Street and West Avenue.

Gilliam said the building is for sale and he has had inquiries, but he wouldn’t say who has been looking at the property.

The brew pub’s sales have decreased steadily since 2000, dropping by 12 percent last year.

“Our quality dipped,” Gilliam said. “There’s more competition. Over time, we had the street being torn up. We had our heyday.”
