Some of Valentin Gutierrez’ employees at his temporary staffing agency had trouble getting home loans, so he decided to start his own mortgage company. Now, Valentin Guaranteed Home Mortgage splits some office space with Valentin Staffing Services in Tontitown, and Gutierrez plans to open as many as three additional mortgage company offices in Northwest Arkansas during the next year.

He has three employees and hopes to add as many as 10 with the opening of the new offices.

Gutierrez said the mortgage company is backed by a large group of investors out of New York. The company offers both VA and FHA loans. It primarily caters to first-time home buyers, people who have had trouble obtaining a home loan because of credit history and Hispanic home buyers.

“I saw the need in Northwest Arkansas,” Gutierrez said. “There are people who want to buy a home, but they have this on their credit. We can help.”

Gutierrez said he has established relationships with some area real estate agencies and home builders and is working to establish more such relationships.

Gutierrez said he’s also prepared to extend loans for up to $1 million for businesses.

Valentin Guaranteed Home Mortgage Co. occupies 1,300 SF in its Tontitown office.

He would not disclose the business’ startup costs, but he hopes to make back the personal investment in the first eight months of operations.
