Harold Sargent and Josh Lockhart, co-owners of the Farmer’s Livestock Auction Inc. in Springdale, bought out their third partner Ken Eddleman in March. The Friday auctions at the Springdale Sale Barn, as it’s commonly known, make it the largest weekly livestock sale in Arkansas. Attracting cattle from as far south as Russellville and even into Oklahoma and Missouri, the sale routinely runs more than $1 million worth of cattle on a Friday.

Lockhart said the buyout was amicable and that Eddleman is simply pursuing other business interests. He and Sargent, who has had an ownership interest in the auction since 1967, declined to disclose details about the buyout.

The sale barn employs 55 people during peak times.
