Michael Gerwin and Terry D. Seigler have opened a new jewelry store in Fayetteville that has a high-tech flair.

The two have partnered on Michael-Seigler Jewelry & Design, bringing computerized design to their craft. They can start with a design idea for a piece or start with the stones for the creation and build a design around it by using new 3-D computer-assisted software. Customers can view it on a wide-screen television monitor in the store.

It eliminates a lot of redesign work because customers get the jewelry piece the way they imagined it the first time, he said.

The computerized image is sent to a special milling machine that creates a wax mold of the piece. Seigler said the computerized creation of the mold also eliminates human error in the process.

Gerwin is the former owner of Cecil’s Fine Jewelry in Little Rock. He said he spent about $900,000 to open Michael-Seigler Jewelry & Design, much of it coming from the sale of his former store.

The two have two full-time employees and hope to add a third employee as the business grows in the coming year.

The store is in 2,250 SF of leased space in north Fayetteville.
