Bruce Mulkey of Rogers filed a libel suit on Jan. 16 against Stephens Media Group “of Little Rock” on behalf of his client, Jodi Gilpatrick, 26, of Rogers.

In the court filling, Mulkey wrote that Gilpatrick was arrested on Dec. 18 and charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to register her vehicle.

On Dec. 20, The Morning News, which is owned by Stephens Media, reported that Gilpatrick had been arrested for DWI and “failure to register as a child or sex offender.”

The Morning News published a correction on Dec. 23, but the original mistake remained in the newspaper’s online archives for several days after the correction was published.

Mulkey asked for unspecified actual and compensatory damages as well as attorney’s fees.
