Forty Under 40: Mitchell Massey

Mitchell Massey started a hydraulics firm in 1992 and later launched his own holding company that has an interest in a number of entities, including five primary companies through Massey Holdings that will likely generate more than $20 million in sales this year. nIn addition to Hydraulic Solutions Inc., which operates in four states, Massey Holdings’ primary companies include four local firms: Growth Group Inc., a site and utility company; Con-form Inc., a concrete company; Massey Rental, a property management company; and Massey Investments, which holds his real estate interests. n”I’ve always been somewhat of an entrepreneur,” Massey said. “I believe you have to bale hay while the sun is shining, and in Northwest Arkansas, it’s shining.”nMassey said he loves the freedom of being his own boss, and that it allows him to travel.nAsked about advice he’d give someone starting out, he said, “Learn the important lessons on someone else’s dime, and then go do it for yourself.” nMassey is a member of the Northwest Arkansas Advisory Council for the Nature Conservancy and an active supporter of the Humane Society and Heifer Project International. nn
