Forty Under 40: Jeff Bishop
Jeff Bishop grew up in Prescott and joined the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 19. A year later, he was in a supervisory role, which helped shape his career path for the next two decades.nAfter four years in the Marines and six years with the Air National Guard, Bishop moved to East Camden and worked as a plant electrician for a year and a half for Atlantic Research Co., a defense contractor that makes rocket motors.nIn 1991, he moved to Fayetteville where his sister was then living.nBishop went to work that year for the Northwest Arkansas Mall as a technical specialist, dealing the the building’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.nIn January 1993, he became operations manager of the mall and has been in that job ever since.nBishop said the highlight of his career was helping the mall through a $40 million expansion from 550,000 SF to 822,232 SF that took place from 1995 to 1999.nBishop’s advises young people to, “Get your education out of the way, and find a mentor you respect.”nBishop does volunteer work with the Boy Scouts and youth baseball.nFor fun, the family enjoys camping and canoeing in the Ozark Mountains, Bishop said.n
