Forty Under 40: Catherine Frederick
Catherine Frederick worked full time at Bob Wimberly Public Relations while earning her bachelor’s degree at night from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. That taste of “PR” convinced Frederick she was made for marketing.nShe loves her job these days helping companies brand, launch and market their products at The McIntosh Group. Getting there, she said, took hard work and sacrifice.n”You have to have a hunger for success,” Frederick said.nThe North Little Rock native began doing professional recruitment in 1998 for Kavin Employment Services in Fort Smith. In 2000, she took a 50 percent pay cut to get nonprofit experience as community events director for Fort Smith’s Gregory Kistler Treatment Center.nFrederick joined Arkansas-Oklahoma Gas Corp. in 2001 as communications manager, and through that job met John McIntosh, president of brand-development firm The McIntosh Group. He saw her potential.nShe quickly moved up the ranks at McIntosh by focusing on individual clients. Since her arrival, the firm has added four key accounts and enjoyed 15 percent revenue growth. Frederick, whose volunteer work includes the American Heart Association, said she hopes to double those figures by 2005. nn
