Statewide Deposits Show Regions? Brawn

rAlabama state-chartered Regions Bank is still the largest bank in Arkansas by deposits with $4.065 billion, according to the latest market share analysis published by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.r

Regions Bank is the banking arm of publicly traded Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., a diversified financial services and banking company.r

Fayetteville-chartered Arvest Bank, the primary operation of Arvest Bank Group Inc. of Bentonville, gained ground on Regions this year through a couple of acquisitions. Arvest’s deposits increased 7.57 percent to $3.4 billion year-over-year (see chart).r

Arvest’s acquisitions included the $30.5 million buyout of Bank of Yellville and the $211 million “cash merger” with Superior Financial Corp. of Little Rock, parent company of Superior Bank of Fort Smith.r

Arvest’s increase in deposits exceeded the 5.51 percent increase in the statewide deposit market, so its market share also grew on the year. It was up nearly 2 percent to 9.12 percent.r
