George?s Expected to Sell

Suzie Stephens and Brian Crowne are buying George’s Majestic Lounge, Fayetteville’s oldest tavern.
The sale includes the real estate and business, but the buyers wouldn’t say how much they’re paying.
“We will close on it sometime next month,” Crowne said on Dec. 15. “There will be a short period of down time, and we will reopen sometime in February. We will try to respect the historic integrity of George’s.”
George’s, a Dickson Street landmark, opened in the 1920s and has remained in the same location ever since.
After the sale, Crowne said, there will be a full-time restaurant in the front part of George’s.
Bill and Betty Harrison currently own 70 percent of George’s. Their son, Ben Harrison, owns the remaining 30 percent.
Crowne is a musician and former manager of George’s. Stephens owns Nibbles Food Emporium in Fayetteville.
